The decline in construction intentions was led by the non-residential sector (-$1.3 billion) and tempered by the residential sector (+$135.6 million). On a constant dollar basis (2023=100), the total value of building permits issued in February decreased 8.6% from the previous month and was down 11.5% on a year-over-year basis.
